Hey, I'm Shannon

I help adults break free from addictive cycles and take back control.

Whether it’s drinking, drugs, work, gaming, gambling or something else — we’ll unpack what’s driving it and build a plan that actually works for you.

Let’s be honest about addiction…

Addiction isn’t just about what you’re using or doing — it’s about what it gives you.

It numbs, distracts, rewards, or just gets you through the day.

The problem is, over time it stops being a choice and starts feeling like a default.

Most of the people I work with are functional. They’ve got jobs, families, responsibilities. From the outside, they look fine. On the inside, it’s guilt, shame, hiding, and that constant tug-of-war between “I’ve got this under control” and “I can’t keep doing this.”

My job is to help you understand what’s driving it, what keeps it stuck, and how to start taking your power back — one decision at a time.

What we can work on together

Everyone’s story is different, but the patterns are familiar.

We might work on:

  • Cutting back or stopping alcohol, drugs, porn or gambling

  • Managing urges, cravings, and emotional triggers

  • Reducing shame and self-blame

  • Rebuilding trust with partners, family, and friends

  • Creating structure and support so change actually sticks

  • Finding healthier ways to deal with stress, boredom, anger or loneliness

You choose the pace. I’ll bring the tools, curiosity, and accountability.

Sometimes change means quitting completely; sometimes it means reducing harm. Either way, we’ll talk through which hard you want.

For loved ones.

Addiction doesn’t just impact the person using — it wears down everyone around them.

I also work with partners, parents and adult children who feel stuck, scared, or angry, and don’t know what to do next. Together we look at:

  • How to help without enabling

  • Setting clear, healthy boundaries

  • What actually supports change (and what doesn’t)

  • Whether rehab or other treatment options make sense

  • How to protect your own wellbeing in the middle of all this

You can care about someone and still draw a line.

We work on boundaries that come from care and self-respect, not punishment.

How It Works

We keep things simple.

Step 2 – Loffty Assessment

If we go ahead, we’ll use a comprehensive online screening tool that looks at addiction and underlying factors like ADHD, anxiety, depression and burnout. These pieces often feed into each other. Understanding that mix is important.

Step 3 – Ongoing Sessions

We meet online, anywhere in Australia. Sessions are practical, collaborative, and focused on clarity, structure and progress — not lectures, labels, or blame.

The aim isn’t for you to stay in therapy forever. It’s to give you enough insight and skill that you don’t need me long-term.

Step 1 – Free Intro Call

A short, 10-15-minute chat to see if this approach fits your situation. No pressure, no judgement — just straight talk about what’s happening and what you want to change.

My goal isn’t to keep you in therapy forever; it’s to get you moving again with confidence.

Who this is for

This work is a good fit if you:

  • Are ready to make changes, even if you’re scared or unsure where to start

  • Want honesty and accountability, not sugar-coating

  • Feel stuck in habits you can’t explain or control

  • Are willing to look at the deeper “why,” not just the behaviour

For loved ones, it’s for you if you’re:

  • Walking on eggshells

  • Unsure how to help without losing yourself

  • Tired of the chaos, but not ready to give up on the person you care about

You don’t have to have it all figured out before you reach out. That’s part of the work we’ll do together.

Wondering what to expect?

You’ll get:

  • Confidential online sessions — accessible anywhere in Australia

  • Practical strategies instead of abstract theory

Clear steps between sessions so you know what you’re working on

  • Honest conversations — no scripts, no “therapist voice”

Medicare rebates with a GP Mental Health Care Plan

You’ll get clarity, direction, and a plan you can actually live with in the real world — not just something that looks good on paper.

Why people choose to work with me

You’re not signing up to a program — you’re working with a person.

No intake team. No rotating clinicians. No generic workbook.

Just you and me, getting clear on what’s going on and what needs to change.

I focus on ADHD, addiction, and the messy overlap between them. That means we’re not starting from zero — I understand how these patterns show up in real life, especially for people who are still working, parenting, and trying to keep it together.

I’ll always be upfront with you. If something’s working, we’ll build on it. If it’s not, we’ll adjust. Therapy shouldn’t feel like guesswork.

You’ll never be a case file. You’ll be a person I actually know and care about.

FAQs about addiction therapy

  • Not always. Some people cut down, some quit. We’ll talk honestly about what’s realistic, safe, and aligned with your goals.

  • You don’t need a label or a rock-bottom moment to ask for help. If it’s bothering you — or the people around you — it’s worth exploring.

  • Yes. Therapy can support and strengthen whatever recovery plan you’re already on.

  • Absolutely. You don’t need their permission to get support for yourself.

  • No. I use a flexible, evidence-based approach. If 12-step supports you, great — we can work alongside it. If it’s not your thing, that’s fine too.

  • Yes. All sessions are online and confidential.

  • Most people feel some relief within a few sessions — even just from telling the truth in a safe space. Long-term change takes consistency, not perfection

  • No. You can book directly. If you want Medicare rebates, you’ll need a GP Mental Health Care Plan — I can guide you on that.
